Stellar Blade

A two-part documentary introducing Western audiences to Shift Up, the studio behind Sony’s AAA hit, Stellar Blade. Shot on location in Seoul, South Korea, these dev diaries took fans inside a games studio like never before.

We sought to bring the studio’s influences and inspirations to life, making Seoul itself a character in the films. Shot on anamorphic lenses, the objective was to elevate the dev diary format, approaching these films as high-end editorial content.

Extensive research and pre-interviews with the studio guided our narrative, as we dug into the unique elements of Shift Up’s development process: from their clay monster maquettes, to their volumetric capture system. B-roll supplemented our story, filming in locations like the Seoul fish market, and an abandoned subway station.

The first episode of ‘The Journey’ hit over 200k viewers in its first 24 hours on the official US Sony channel alone. An impressive return for a 7-minute documentary video. The game launch itself was also a success, with a sequel officially announced.
